Over the past few months, we’ve been working on a new project here at Publicize. Today, we’re excited to share it. It’s called the Publicize Community. Our goal is to become the one-stop definitive resource on PR for entrepreneurs.

If there’s one thing we know about PR and the media, it is that they are more complex and changeable than meets the eye. We’ve learned that while every company is unique, some lessons tend to repeat themselves. Whether it be problems which arise due to bad campaign planning; common mistakes when writing a press release, or committing faux pas when communicating with journalists, there are many lessons which can be learned from sharing both positive and negative experiences within our new PR community network.

PR reflections

Every new client we take on and campaign that we manage is a constant learning curve for our team, which we feel can make positive changes to the industry as a whole. While there are transferable lessons from each campaign, there is no black and white PR strategy for startups. With every great new product, service or idea which cross our path, we have to create from scratch a campaign which will do the company justice, and convey their worth, aims and values to the media in an effective manner.

Over the past months, we began to realize that a lot of the content, knowledge and insights on PR were hard to find online. For too long PR has been considered something just for big firms, to be provided by corporate agencies. Fees and retainers can be astronomical, making them unaffordable for many of the new and exciting SMB and startup companies that are trying to carve their place in the world. Trying to get media coverage on your own can be tough, which is why our aim for the Publicize Community is to curate vital PR knowledge to help more entrepreneurs get media coverage.

The goal of all this

With this end goal in mind, we aim to update content curated by our editors from a wide range of sources to give a real overview of the PR industry as a whole, and our take on what information is relevant and useful for our wider community. Aside from posting informative and interesting articles, we’ll be hosting webinars with top editors and thought leaders, publishing data on our own work, and more. We hope to send more updates as the Publicize Community continues to evolve.

This isn’t just about a few blog posts; it’s bigger than that. This is about a media and PR revolution. Become part of something huge by signing up to receive the Publicize Community newsletter.
